Sin Senh, PG

Chief Executive Officer President Principal Hydrogeologist

Mr. Senh is a registered Professional Geologist with over twenty years of experience in environmental site assessment, remediation, and risk management. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Geology and Environmental Studies and a Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from Binghamton University. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer and a Principal Hydrogeologist at Roux (1999-Present). Mr. Senh has served as the Project Principal on hundreds of sites within the New York City metropolitan area, including investigation and remediation of landfill sites, manufactured gas plant sites, underground storage tank release sites, E-designation sites, and former industrial sites in support of site redevelopment. He has also been retained as an expert witness in cases that include allocation of remediation costs among multiple parties (including allocation to determine the additional cost, responsibility, and liability of contamination due to spills, leaks, discharges, or releases occurring after transfer in ownership), soil and groundwater contaminant fate and transport, and determining timing of releases.

representative projects
  • Project oversight of the largest redevelopment project in New York City (over $5 billion) for the past 15 years. Project included multiple relocation of an active 9‑acre 100‑year-old rail yard in order to maintain 100% run-time of trains; Phase I and Phase II ESAs (investigation of soil, groundwater, and soil vapor) at over 75 properties; construction support for excavation of over 1,000,000 cubic yards of soil including implementing an in situ waste characterization program; environmental support for demolition, asbestos, and lead abatement; and site remediation using In Situ Chemical Oxidation.
  • Coordinated a due diligence project for a major petroleum company for the divestiture of retail service stations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions. The project was to complete an environmental site assessment of over 1,000 retail service stations with the intent of divesting of both the property and the environmental liability. Managed team that performed over 180 Phase I ESAs in accordance with ASTM E1527-05 and developed the scope of work for the Phase II site characterizations.
  • Modeled for the largest subsurface free‑product plume in North America. Constructed a groundwater flow and multi-phase flow model using BIOSLURPTM to estimate total free‑product volume and recovery time, and a three‑dimensional groundwater flow model using MODFLOW. Provided alternative remedial strategies to expedite recovery efforts and improvements to maintain hydraulic containment and prevent discharge to adjacent creek. Modeling results were used to design and install additional thirteen 12‑inch diameter stainless steel recovery wells. Total volume recovered to date by the dual phase extraction wells is over 13 million gallons of free-product.
  • Oversaw the investigation and remediation of a former dry cleaner where we injected over 200,000 pounds of Zero-Valent Iron (ZVI) and 2,500 gallons of Emulsified Vegetable Oil (EVO) into the subsurface using pneumatic fracturing. Post-treatment results show over 95 percent reduction in concentrations of chlorinated VOCs in groundwater. Additional work included the design, installation, and operation of a Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) system to address impacted vadose zone soil.
  • Modeled the groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport at USEPA NPL Superfund site in New Jersey. Constructed and calibrated a three-dimensional MODFLOW model to simulate groundwater flow and MT3D transport model of three contaminant plumes (TCE, Benzene, and BCEE) resulting from former petroleum lagoon and acid washing facility. Model was utilized for a feasibility study to evaluate alternatives for remediation.
