James Hauri, PhD Presenting at SETAC Annual Meeting
Sunday, November 16–Thursday, November 20 Taking place in Portland, Oregon, the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) North American 46th Annual Meeting features an exciting lineup of plenaries and more than 1,000 presentations. The SETAC is dedicated to advancing environmental science and science-informed decision-making through collaboration, communication, education, and leadership.
Join us as Roux’s James Hauri, PhD presents a poster session on Thursday, November 20 from 8-10am entitled Potential Impacts to Wetlands from Chronic, Low-Level CO2 Inputs. Due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), there is increasing interest in carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, as well as potential environmental risks associated with their implementation. A comprehensive literature review was performed that evaluated existing knowledge and identified possible impacts to wetlands from hypothetical long-term low-level CO2 inputs that might unintentionally result from CCS activities. This review considered a variety of common wetland types, irrespective of geographic location in order to evaluate possible abiotic and biotic impacts within wetland soil and water.
