Annual Fall Conference: Roux to Present

Posted on October 18, 2022

Sunday, October 23 – Wednesday, October 26 The American Water Works Association, California-Nevada Section is hosting their Annual Fall Conference at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, California. The agenda includes various meetings, workshops, and receptions, as well as two days of technical sessions and networking opportunities.

On Monday, October 24, Roux’s Angela Liang Cutting, Ph.D, P.E., QISP will be presenting alongside Pedro Do Vale on the Beneficial Reuse of Well Blowoff Water. Roux’s presenters will discuss a case study wherein an innovative and green design for well blow-off water and stormwater treatment was engineered and implemented in San Jose, California.

The approach utilized constructed treatment wetlands to maximize evapotranspiration and treatment as well as infiltration of stormwater runoff generated from a 3-acre site. The drought-resistant vegetation stabilizes and protects deposited sediments from resuspension during large storm events. In addition to stormwater, the engineered sump also infiltrates millions of gallons of well blow-off water every year to recharge the groundwater aquifers.
