Andrea Berlinghof Presenting During AWWA Annual Fall Conference

Posted on October 14, 2021

Monday, October 18 – Thursday, October 21 The American Water Works (AWWA) California-Nevada Section is presenting a virtual Annual Fall Conference, “Adapting to Change.” The four-day event will include an opening general session, awards luncheon, and will provide training classes for up to 18.5 professional contact hours. The event reaches skilled distribution operators, treatment operators, engineers, and field professionals from the world of drinking water.

Roux’s Andrea Berlinghof, P.E., Senior Engineer, will be presenting during the conference on Wednesday, October 20 at 3pm on Mercury Remediation for Water Utility Companies. Due to historical water purveyance infrastructure containing mercury, mercury remediation may be necessary for many water utility companies. Mercury has properties that differ from other materials, which impacts how remediation activities are implemented.

Learning outcomes of this presentation include an increased understanding of properties of mercury; water purveyor infrastructure and media that may be impacted with mercury; methods to investigate and address mercury impacts, monitoring, remediation, and mitigation alternatives; public outreach; and an overview of case studies and lessons learned.
