Roux to Present at AEHS West International Conference

Monday, March 20 – Thursday, March 23 Members of Roux’s California offices will be presenting as part of the Association for Environmental Health and Sciences (AEHS) Foundation 32nd Annual International Conference on Soil, Water, Energy, and Air. This annual conference has helped bring the environmental science community closer together by providing a forum to facilitate the exchange of information of technological advances, new scientific achievements, and the effectiveness of standing environmental regulation programs. 

Tuesday, March 21
As part of the Poster Sessions from 3-6pm, Roux’s Amelia Feick, EIT and Mauricio Escobar, PG will present on Trials and Tribulations of Water Board RAP Approval at a Development Site Near LAX, focusing on an industrial site near LAX, subject of dozens of investigations and multiple remedial actions starting in the 1990s, where releases of tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) affected soil, soil vapor, and groundwater.

Wednesday, March 22
During the morning’s Remediation Session at 9:30am, Roux’s April McGuire, Mauricio Escobar, PG, and Wai Kwan, PhD, PE will present on Multi-Pronged Approach to Remediate and Mitigate Chlorinated Solvent Impacts. This platform session describes a former printing press site in Orange County South Basin, where Roux implemented a multi-pronged approach to remediate volatile organic compound (VOC) contamination, including  in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) injections and soil vapor extraction (SVE) system installation.

On the same day, during the Environmental Forensics session, Roux’s Rachel Maxwell and Adam Love, PhD speak on Identification of Aqueous Film-Forming Foam Chemical Fingerprints from Concentrates at 10:30am. Accurate chemical discrimination between various manufacturers of aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) is an important capability toward forensic assessments of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) source identification, timing of use, and relative contribution to overall PFAS impacts. To overcome various limitations, in this study, AFFF concentrates from various manufacturers and production years were analyzed both before and after application of a total oxidizable precursor (TOP) assay.
