Glyphosate—one of the most widely used herbicides in the world—is also one of the most controversial, and most studied by the scientific community. In the wake of a 2015 International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) hazard evaluation classifying glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic,” there have been multiple jury verdicts awarding millions (or billions) to Plaintiffs allegedly exposed to the widely used herbicide. As news outlets churn out headlines about glyphosate detections in food products, we will try to separate the hype from the science. The webinar will provide context to the IARC hazard evaluation, summarize the state of the science regarding toxicity/human health effects of glyphosate, and provide a summary of recent legal developments.
