Remediation Takeover: Former Dry Cleaner

At this former dry cleaner site in Vineland, New Jersey, Roux was initially involved in an insurance claim evaluation. In terms of remediation, the previous consultant proposed large-scale soil excavation, soil capping/deed notice, Air Sparge (AS) and Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE), chemical oxidation, bioremediation, and long-term monitoring. Roux was able to present an alternative remediation strategy entailing a shortened remediation cleanup schedule, which included the following:

• AS/SVE system;
• Limited soil excavations (after AS/SVE system);
• In situ Bioremediation Direct Push Injections;
• Unrestricted Use Response Action Outcome (RAO) for Soil; and
• Long-term Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) pending NJDEP approval.

Roux ultimately took over the remediation, implementing work and achieving closure at $2.5MM over six years, as opposed to the client’s proposed $6.7MM over 20 years.
