Paper Manufacturers EHS Audits

For over a decade, Roux has conducted bi-annual environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance audits at paper mill facilities located in the United States and Canada. The audits included a comprehensive assessment of all paper mill operations, including raw material processing, pulp and paper manufacturing, and paper product finishing. The audit teams identified both low and high risk EHS compliance issues, including process safety management issues. Additionally, the teams identified EHS hazards that could present risks beyond compliance, such as combustible dust. As part of the on-site audit process, previously implemented corrective actions were reviewed with the on-site team to verify and validate in-place controls were effective and sustainable. After the completion of the audits, Roux worked with the facilities to develop recommended corrective actions to assist the company with controlling present and potential EHS risks, including those from previous audits.

Air Permitting Management Services included air emissions permitting, reporting, recordkeeping, and stack testing management services for a specialty paper mill with multiple dual fuel boilers ranging in size from 50 to 85 MMBtu/hr, and other emission sources. Specific services included assisting the facility in maintaining Title V compliance, validation of stack testing, development and maintenance of recordkeeping systems, and preparation of air emissions statements (AES). Roux prepared required reports such as compliance certifications and deviation reports, and preparation of Title V permit renewal and modification applications. Roux also evaluated other potentially applicable matters such as greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, emissions associated with process changes, and assisted the client with various regulatory negotiations.
