Landfill & Lagoon Closure

Roux completed a remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) and remediation of a landfill and two chemical waste lagoons. Remediation included: onsite processing of 6,000 tons of hazardous lagoon sludge, an enhanced bioremediation injection system, and design of a unique phyto-cap for the landfill.

We designed and constructed a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) approved alternative landfill cover for a 9-acre industrial landfill at this former manufacturing facility. The evapotranspiration cover consists of a mixture of phytotechnology and indigenous plant species. The alternative cover reduced closure cost and won a Wildlife Habitat Council award for habitat creation.
