Brian Hobbs, CIH, CSP

Corporate Health and Safety Director Principal Scientist

Mr. Hobbs is both a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with over fifteen years of experience in the environmental health and safety field. Mr. Hobbs holds an MS in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from the City University of New York, Hunter College and is currently the Corporate Health and Safety Director for Roux. Mr. Hobbs is responsible for establishing health and safety policies and programs, and managing the overall health and safety program at Roux.

 

Mr. Hobbs joined Roux after serving as an environmental health and safety professional for many years in the biopharmaceutical and electronic manufacturing industries. His experience includes workplace exposure assessments; occupational health and safety compliance; indoor air quality assessments; environmental health and safety program development and training; job hazard analysis; hazardous waste operations; incident investigation; and environmental health and safety auditing. With a diverse background in the environmental occupational health and safety and emergency response fields, Mr. Hobbs has the ability to provide both technical and leadership roles for brownfields, petroleum, industrial, and insurance projects throughout the firm.

  • Provide health and safety management support across the United States for a major oil company. Primary role is to provide Corporate Health and Safety support for environmental operations at numerous former petroleum terminals and refineries. Mr. Hobbs provides the lead technical role on health and safety elements, including health and safety procedure review, HAZOP analysis, risk assessment, and overall safety/compliance expert support for major phases of projects.
  • Manages industrial hygiene studies for various projects including sampling for physical, biological, chemical, and radiological materials. Led comprehensive industrial hygiene survey for lead contamination within large electronics manufacturing facility. Coordinated scope of work as it related to area of concern cleanup, and developed and trained personnel on the appropriate work practices for handling lead and other hazardous substances. Led substantial Indoor Air Quality assessments with respect to large-scale demolition and renovation projects adjacent to occupied space. Developed and ensured dust mitigation plans were followed throughout demolition and renovations.
