Tuesday, June 3 – Wednesday, June 4 The Tandem Global Conference 2025 (formerly the WHC Conservation Conference) takes place in Detroit, Michigan. As a newly formed organization bringing together expertise and leadership in business and nature, Tandem Global is proud to continue the tradition of hosting the premier gathering for professionals driving private sector action for nature. Join this conference to discover innovative ways to advance nature on corporate lands, expand your network, and celebrate achievements at dynamic awards presentations. This is the place where business and nature connect, collaborate, and create impact.

On Wednesday, June 4, Roux’s Kathryn Sommo will present on Restoring Balance: Innovative Strategies for Invasive Species Control at 10:30-11:30am Eastern. Urban forests face growing threats from invasive plant species that outcompete native vegetation and degrade ecosystem health. In areas where traditional control methods like prescribed burns are not practical, innovative solutions are essential. This session presents a case study from a densely developed area where a major canopy loss created an opportunity to control invasive growth and restore native forest. Attendees will also learn how aerial drone technology enabled precise, cost-effective herbicide application, and how this scalable approach supports regeneration. The session includes strategy, implementation, and monitoring insights for applying this method in other urban or sensitive settings.

Additional presenters include:

  • Vernon Burrows, Corporate Remediation Project Manager, BASF
  • Kelvin King, Alpha Drones USA
  • Joey Mendolia, Consultant, Tandem Global (Moderator)
