On Friday, January 6th, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the Record of Decision (ROD), selecting a cleanup remedy for the Portland Harbor Site. After reviewing public comments, the EPA opted to increase the scope of the remediation that was indicated in the proposed plan. The ROD has used Alternative F Modified as the final remedy from the feasibility study, as opposed to Alternative I, as indicated by the proposed plan. This increased the estimated cost from $746 million to over $1 billion, which will take about 13 years to complete.
