Columbia Falls Aluminum Company, LLC (CFAC) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) have finalized the Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study (RI/FS) Work Plan to assess historic environmental conditions at the former Anaconda Aluminum Smelter site in Columbia Falls, Montana. From the Flathead Beacon—Columbia Falls Aluminum Company (CFAC) announces the Draft Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study Work Plan (draft RI/FS Work Plan) developed by Roux Associates to assess conditions and evaluate remedial actions for contamination of the former smelter site located near the Flathead River. The draft RI/FS Work Plan is open to the public and regulators to review and make comments. CFAC will take into account any feedback before finalizing the RI/FS Work Plan. Roux Associates is obtained by Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. (CFAC), a company “owned by the giant Swiss-based global commodities trader Glencore,” to assess soil and groundwater impacts at a smelter site in Montana.
