  • BTEX Contaminated Groundwater

    Roux Associates designed a pilot subsurface flow treatment wetland to passively intercept and degrade BTEX contaminated groundwater. The system’s high aesthetic, low visual impact appeal was ideal for its golf course setting. Based upon the exceptional performance of the pilot system, a full scale treatment wetland is currently being designed.

  • Sustainable Stormwater Design

    Metal Smelter; Iceland

    Roux Associates designed and installed an Engineered Natural System (ENS®) to treat stormwater runoff from a 200-acre metal smelter. The ENS® collects stormwater runoff from production/industrial areas and provides pretreatment via vegetated bioswales and engineered soil profiles. Water is then conveyed to two stormwater treatment wetlands for detention and treatment prior to discharge to the fjord.

  • Stormwater Treatment Facility Design

    Metals Manufacturer; Texas

    Roux Associates designed a multi-faceted Engineered Natural System (ENS®) to minimize annual costs for stormwater control at an ore refining and metals processing facility. The treatment system includes sedimentation trenches, an 8-acre constructed treatment wetland and vegetated bioswales to treat stormwater runoff, plus an additional 8-acre phytoremediation sprayfield to consume the effluent and promote zero discharge.

  • Industrial Landfill

    Chemical Company; Virginia

    Roux Associates designed a cost effective alternative landfill cover and leachate treatment system for a multi-national chemical company. Key design elements included a Constructed Treatment Wetlands (CTW) for pH neutralization and metal removal from leachate and a Phytotechnology cover in place of the traditional RCRA cap.

  • Wastewater Treatment Facility Design

    Metals Manufacturer; Saudi Arabia

    Roux Associates designed and installed a 23-acre Constructed Treatment Wetlands system to treat 1.4 million gallons per day of wastewaters (sanitary, process and stormwater) generated from a 3,000 acre aluminum facility.

  • Ocean Breeze Park

    NYC Dept. of Parks & Rec.; New York

    The 110-acre Ocean Breeze Park was selected as one of eight city parks to participate in PlaNYC for enhancing the sustainability and improving public parks for New York City. Roux Associates prepared engineering designs to sustainably manage stormwater runoff from the developed areas of the park utilizing a treatment wetland and bioretention rain gardens.
