Tuesday, November 7 CLM’s Bermuda Chapter is hosting a November Educational & Networking Event entitled “The Cost of Catastrophes: A Panel Perspective on Pollution Events.” The panel, including Roux’s Vice President and Principal Engineer Peter Alvey, P.E., will discuss environmental claims that arise due to the time element provision of the current general liability policies written on the London and Bermuda forms. The panel will present the technical, legal, and coverage-related challenges involved in handling of these events, while exploring the interaction of other policies such as property, business interruption, and directors and officers (D&O) policies.

Thursday, September 7 Roux will be presenting at the first ever Mega-Superfund Site Symposium, hosted by the Association of Insurance & Reinsurance Run-Off Companies (AIRROC) and the Environmental and Emerging Claim Manager Association (EECMA). This one-day symposium will address the many challenges that arise from “Mega” Superfund Sites, such as the Portland Harbor, the Lower Passaic River, and other similar contaminated sediment sites. The symposium discusses many factors associated with Mega Superfund Sites, such as legal liability, insurance coverage implications, remediation complexities, and regulatory climate governing, creating an essential conference for all stakeholders involved with these sites.
Peter Alvey, P.E., Vice President and Principal Engineer at Roux, will present as part of the “Characteristics of Mega-Superfund Sites and Remediation Challenges” panel. Mr. Alvey will discuss key developments at Mega Superfund Sites, including technical and legal challenges associated with the longer-term wrap up and closure of large, complex sites, and related emerging issues.
