What You Should Know About Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) for Environmental Claims
Lydia R. Dorrance, Ph.D. and Adam Love, Ph.D.
Roux’s Lydia Dorrance, Ph.D., Senior Scientist and Adam Love, Ph.D., Vice President coauthored an article published in the Environmental Claims Journal regarding the latest developments on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). PFAS are a broad class of surfactant-like chemicals that are characterized by their many carbon-fluorine bonds.
Since the 1950s, PFAS have been widely used in numerous and varied products with industrial and commercial applications. However, concerns regarding potentially adverse human health and ecological impacts from exposure to PFAS chemicals have resulted in increased regulatory attention and lawsuits alleging bodily injury and/or property damage.
This article outlines what you should know about PFAS for environmental claims, including PFAS characteristics and uses, sampling and analysis, forensics, and more. Please click on the button below to request a complimentary copy.
Defending Lead Cases: Strategies and Tactics for a Trending Toxic Tort
Wednesday, October 25th • 1:00pm – 2:30pm (Central) • Hosted by DRI
Please join DRI’s Toxic Tort & Environmental Law Committee for an informative webinar featuring Susan E. Smith, Partner at Goldberg Segalla; James B. Slaughter of Beveridge & Diamond; Patrick T. Connor, Technical Director at CONNOR; and Marc Scarcella and Adam Love, Ph.D. of Roux Associates. Personal injury claims from lead exposure involve very serious allegations of permanent brain injuries to children with huge damage claims. Fueled by the Flint, Michigan crisis, lead lawsuits are rapidly expanding from lead paint claims to alleged lead exposure from drinking water, groundwater, soil, and airborne media. This presentation will highlight the leading cases, and current exposure and causation theories. The panel of experienced lead defense trial lawyers and experts will explain the legal and scientific defenses to lead claims and damages. They will also review the complex web of statutes and regulations governing lead and how clients can limit their risk of lead claims.
