Roux Associates has reviewed more than 1,000 claims developed by gas companies under their historic CGL policies for gas plants around the country. This effort involves reviewing site histories, site remediation reports and plans, and detailed cost estimates for future work. Roux then develops site specific cost estimates for each MGP based on detailed bottoms-up cost analysis. Our estimates are based on exacting measurements of historic MGP structures taken from Sanborn Maps, available site data, and our experience performing clean-up at this type of site. We have assisted carriers in reaching successful settlements with their insureds regarding gas plants in New England, New York, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, California, Iowa, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Louisiana, Alabama, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Maryland.

Our services often reduce the estimates of future remediation costs in a portfolio of sites by hundreds of millions of dollars, which is directly correlated to the liability allocation to our insurance clients. Though our estimates are often significantly lower than those provided by the policyholders, they usually play a much more direct role in determining the amount of any settlement. Roux feels our “real world” cost estimates are fair and reasonable, and are accepted by policyholders as a basis of settlement because they also know they are fair and reasonable.
