Asphalt and Soil Cap

Roux Associates was retained by a major pharmaceuticals manufacturing company to provide remedial design, permitting and construction management services at an active refractory processing plant in Old Bridge, New Jersey.  Engineering tasks included:

 

  • completion of a landfill slope stability evaluation;
  • design of a cap for an industrial landfill, including a landfill gas venting system;
  • design of soil and asphalt caps for contaminated soil in other portions of the site; and
  • “hot spot” soil excavation and disposal.


Roux Associates prepared design documents including technical specifications and drawings for all elements of the site remedy.  In addition, we obtained freshwater wetlands and waterfront development permits for the site, which is located in an environmentally sensitive area at the confluence of two rivers.

Finally, Roux Associates provided construction management services under challenging field conditions including working in environmentally sensitive areas and performing work while the facility maintained continuous operation.  Construction management activities included oversight of day-to-day contractor operations, scheduling, budget tracking, regulatory interaction and handling of field changes and change orders.
