After a fuel oil tanker truck was involved in a traffic accident on the Mass Pike, approximately 5,000 gallons of fuel oil was released to the roadway, shoulder, and surrounding properties. The local spill response company used up all $1 million in available primary insurance coverage within three weeks, but little environmental clean-up was actually accomplished. Roux Associates was then hired by the excess carrier, along with a new remediation contractor. Roux evaluated the scope of work to be done, provided oversight and direction, and has reviewed invoices on a real-time basis.

As a result of our involvement, Roux was able to greatly reduce the scope of work for the excavation based on a focused re-sampling plan and we also identified invoicing irregularities by the spill contractor that will provide savings of $450,000 to the excess carrier.
