On July 20, 2015, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) issued a Compliance Enforcement Alert regarding laboratories and the Air Pollution Control Act.
The NJDEP is increasing their focus on laboratories and facilities with laboratory equipment that has the potential to emit air toxics. The commonly used solvent, methylene chloride, is included as one of the air pollutants. It has been previously found that laboratories have emitted pollutants greater than the accepted rate.
