No. 6 Oil AST/Boiler Feed System

Roux Associates performed an options analysis, developed detailed plans and specifications and managed construction associated with the closure of four, 20,000-gallon No.6 Fuel Oil USTs and the replacement of the USTs with two 40,000 total gallon No.2 Fuel Oil ASTs to support the infrastructure of a paper mill.

The new AST system included: spill/overfill prevention, leak detection and containment equipment; remote monitoring instrumentation; a secondarily contained tanker offloading station; piping systems from the tanker offloading area to the ASTs and from the ASTs to the boiler area; and new fuel oil transfer pumps to feed process steam boiler systems. Roux Associates also provided support regarding the boiler and control modifications necessary as a result of the changes in fuel type.

The scope of work included; obtaining local permits, zoning and insurance company approvals; and developing a tank transition plan to eliminate loss of plant production. The work was performed on schedule and under Budget
