The EPA’s Record of Decision for the lower 8.3 miles of the Lower Passaic River:

EPA-ROD-Lower 8.3 Miles of the Lower Passaic River-03-2016

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Description: New Jersey’s Passaic River Superfund site consists of the Upper Passaic River, the Lower Passaic River, and Newark Bay. There are many potentially responsible parties (PRPs) for this site and the allocations amongst them have not yet been determined. On March 3, 2016, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the Record of Decision (ROD) for the lower 8.3 miles of the Lower Passaic River, which includes part of the Diamond Alkali Superfund Site in Essex and Hudson Counties, New Jersey. The issuance of the ROD allows the parties to have a quantification of the estimated cost of remediation for this portion. Separate RODs will be issued for the full 17-mile Lower Passaic River and for Newark Bay.
