Roux Associates was retained by a U.S.- based manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment to evaluate potential environmental liabilities at more than 50 national and international locations including France, United kingdom, Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands and Belgium. The evaluations were to be conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The scope of work at each of these locations included the review of historical background information for each location; a conduct one or two-day site inspection to interview on-site staff regarding on-going environmental operations, and document the present use and condition of the property, evidence of petroleum releases, historical soil and groundwater remediation and other identified environmental issues; evaluate the appropriateness of the current environmental remedies at each site considering the regulatory framework , anticipated or actual technical performance, and the associated cost.
In addition, potential future liabilities were taken into consideration by evaluating the nature and extent of contamination, regulatory environment, schedule of remediation or corrective actions, and the potential for use of innovative technologies and risk-based corrective action. For each location, a summary report was prepared to present the information reviewed, a summary of the site visit and findings, the remediation alternatives that were reviewed, a summary of future remediation and O&M costs, recommendations fro remedial actions and estimated future liability amounts.
The client was extremely satisfied with the product quality. As such, the scope of work has been scheduled for repeat after five years.
