Chemical Plants

  • Soil & Groundwater Remediation

    Specialty Paint Manufacturer; New Jersey

Roux Associates designed and installed a high vacuum dual phase extraction (HVDPE) system to remove volatile organic solvents from soil and groundwater. In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) injection, using sodium persulfate and steam, was also employed. The remedial work reduced contaminant mass sufficiently to permit monitored natural attenuation for site closure.

  • Property Transfer Under ISRA

    Chemical Company; New Jersey

Roux Associates prepared the Preliminary Assessment Report, Site Investigation Report and performed the Remedial Investigation for a chemical manufacturing facility located in northern New Jersey which manufactured inorganic chemical products since the 1940’s. Sale of the facility triggered ISRA. Inorganic chemicals from a settling pond have impacted both overburden and bedrock groundwater.

  • RCRA Facility Investigation

    Chemical Company; West Virginia

Roux Associates conducted a RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI), Verification Investigation (VI) and developed a surface water/groundwater interaction model for a 100 + acre chemical manufacturing facility located in Nitro, West Virginia. Constituents of concern included volatile organic compounds (VOCs), herbicides, metals and dioxins. Impacted media included soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water.

  • Building Demolition & Site Remediation

    Chemical Company; New Jersey

Roux Associates coordinated decontamination of the plant building prior to demolition and overall site remediation at this former chemical manufacturing facility. Site cleanup includes excavation of chlorinated solvent, impacted soils and injection of various compounds for in-situ remediation of chlorinated solvents remaining in groundwater.

  • Landfill & Lagoon Closure

    Dye Manufacturing Facility; New York

Roux Associates completed an RI/FS and remediation of a landfill and two chemical waste lagoons at an 80-acre former chemical manufacturing facility adjacent to the Hudson River in Rensselaer, New York. Remediation included: on-site processing of 6000 tons of hazardous lagoon sludge, an enhanced bioremediation injection system, and design of a unique phyto-cap for the landfill.

  • Groundwater Remediation

    Chemical Company; Delaware

Roux Associates designed and operated 12-well groundwater intercept and treatment system for a VOC plume 1.6 miles long by 0.5 miles wide. The system was successful at treating the plume to drinking water standards and the USEPA has approved complete shutdown of all 12 interceptor wells. Roux is currently remediating another portion of this site that is also contaminated with a VOC plume.
