Wednesday, April 25 – Friday, April 27 Roux will be sponsoring and speaking at the annual Environmental and Emerging Claim Manager Association (EECMA) Conference being held in Orlando, Florida. EECMA members are focused on continued education (with CLE/CE credits) about the many issues surrounding emerging risks, environmental, asbestos, and other long-term exposure litigation that continues to challenge insurers and policyholders.
On Thursday (Day 2), Roux’s Lydia R. Dorrance, Ph.D. and Marc Scarcella will be presenting “The Triple Threat from PFAS-related Chemicals: Toxic Tort, Product Liability, and Environmental Cleanups” alongside George Buermann, Esq. and Susan Smith, Esq. of Goldberg Segalla.
Thursday, April 19 – Sunday, April 22 The California Lawyers Association (CLA) is hosting their 37th Annual Meeting of The Real Property Law Section, where California real estate professionals network and share ideas. This leading educational conference for California real estate practitioners features legal education programs, networking events, and special activities, offering up to 15.75 MCLE credits in legal ethics, elimination of bias, and competency issues.
On Sunday morning, Roux’s David Dixon will be moderating a session entitled “Saving the Deal When Environmental issues Arise.” This session provides an overview of common types of environmental issues, the appropriate steps for buyers and sellers to take when unexpected environmental issues arise during real estate transactions, and describes new insurance options that can be leveraged to limit liability and financial risk. Monday, April 16 United States Senator of California, Dianne Feinstein, cited a peer-reviewed article coauthored by Roux’s Adam Love, Ph.D. in a press release early this week. Dr. Love’s article, coauthored by Andy Zdon and M. Lee Davisson, discusses the state-wide impacts of California’s water sources. This article, entitled “Understanding the source of water for selected springs within Mojave Trails National Monument, California,” evaluates spring flow through an integration of published geologic maps, measured groundwater levels, water quality chemistry, and isotope data compiled from both published sources and new samples collected for water chemistry and isotopic composition.

Monday, April 23 This year’s Pure Earth Benefit Bash in New York City is themed “Pollution Solutions,” one of the many environmental issues the organization works to prevent. Pollution accounts for more than one in four deaths in its most severely affected countries. Luckily, there are simple, cost-effective solutions that can save lives, which Pure Earth and their Benefit Bash help fund through implementing life-saving projects around the world.
Pure Earth‘s mission is to identify and clean up the poorest communities throughout the developing world where high concentrations of toxins have devastating health effects. Pure Earth devises clean-up strategies, empowers local champions, and secures support from national and international partnerships, including Roux.

Monday, April 9 – Friday, April 13 The University of Arizona‘s Earth Week kicked off this week, featuring keynote speakers, student presentations, and additional conferences recognizing earth science. Roux is sponsoring three of The University of Arizona’s events: GeoDaze 2018, SWESx, and El Día del Agua y la Atmósfera. These events allow graduate and undergraduate students to showcase their research, spur new collaborations, and gain professional experience and feedback from professionals.
