Whether you are a recent graduate who has worked hard on a degree, or an experienced professional looking for a company with the resources and interest to invest in your career, you will find life at Roux Associates challenging, safe, and ultimately very rewarding.

Employees have full workloads of interesting projects and work with skilled, experienced professionals in a disciplined atmosphere of cross-training and sharing of expertise. This environment is further enhanced by the diversity of our group, with many different backgrounds, skills, ideas, and perspectives. (At last count, we could communicate in 15 different languages).

Senior management's doors are always open, everyone's ideas are welcome, and decisions can be made and acted upon quickly. In addition, we provide an employee mentoring program where senior managers and more junior employees meet in a casual one-on-one setting to discuss the management and financial aspects of the firm and the industry.

It is in everyone's best interest for our employees to develop their skills and advance professionally as quickly as possible. Roux Associates is a growing firm and we much prefer to recruit for the entry level and fill our senior positions by promoting from within. To achieve this, Roux Associates' encourages employees to commit to continuous education, self-improvement, and professional licensing. Ongoing employee training and opportunities for professional development hours are available through a combination of in-house seminars, vendor presentations, internet based conferences (webinars), and external training programs. Ongoing career development is also encouraged through active participation in career-based organizations, attendance and presentation at professional conferences, and preparation of scientific papers. Professional licensing is also highly encouraged and supported by the firm.

While we like to work hard and succeed professionally, we also like to play hard. Roux Associates offers various corporate sponsored activities for our employees and their families. Summer picnics, annual holiday parties, backyard barbecues, fishing outings, happy hours, and casual dinners are some of the opportunities to socialize with friends and colleagues. Roux Associates also participates in organized community events, such as the Long Island Workplace Challenge, a charity running event for local corporations, their families, and friends. In 2007, the men's team from Roux Associates finished in first place out of the more than 6,000 runners and walkers present.

Employee Comment:

"Following the completion of my Masters degree in Hydrogeology five years ago, I began my employment with Roux Associates. During my first year, I worked alongside experienced consultants on numerous projects and began to realize what aspect of consulting I wanted to specialize in. Roux Associates allowed me to explore different roles that were suited to my interests and sent me to workshops, all while providing guidance at each step. I have worked on some of the biggest projects in the country and was even given the opportunity to work in Taipei, Taiwan, where I was the stand-alone manager of a large investigation and remediation project. In five years, I went from an assistant field staff to a project manager that oversees all of the investigation activities of one of the largest and most high profile sites in the country. When compared to others in my graduating class, I see a big difference in the wide range of experiences and opportunities that I have been given by Roux Associates. When I started five years ago, I did not know the first thing about environmental consulting, but proper guidance was provided throughout the early stages of my career and now I am sharing them with the next generation of Roux Associates."   --- C.P., Senior Hydrogeologist
