Project Manager (Southern California)

Position Overview
Roux has an immediate opening in Long Beach, California for an environmental professional with strong skills in real estate due diligence and site investigation. The ideal candidate will have BS or MS in an environmentally-related field, with a minimum of 3-8 years’ experience completing Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and Phase II Subsurface Investigations. A successful candidate will be familiar with ASTM Standards for Phase I ESAs and California Guidance for soil gas, vapor intrusion mitigation, and indoor air sampling. Must be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously with strict deliverable deadlines and minimal supervision.

Candidate Qualifications/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental discipline. Master’s preferred.
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience in the environmental industry. Specific experience with Phase I Site ESAs and Phase II ESAs required. A demonstrated progression in technical site investigation/remediation and task management preferred.
  • Able to identify Recognized Environmental Conditions utilizing various historical documentation and environmental databases.
  • Ability to lead contractors, co-workers, and other professionals in task management capacity to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communications with technical writing experience.
  • Professional license or certification preferred (P.E., P.G., etc.).

Position Requirements

  • Perform site visits and prepare Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, and cost proposals related to both.
  • Primary author of Phase I and Phase II reports.
  • Perform soil gas sampling and indoor air sampling per California Guidance.
  • Field and office management of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling.
  • Development and management of project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Preparation and review of regulatory and technical reports.
  • Client service and regulatory agency communications.
  • Delegation of project work and training of junior staff.

Roux New York Summer Events 2018

Tough Mudder Long Island Saturday, July 21
Team Captain and Principal Hydrogeologist Michael Roux led the Roux team through 10 miles of mud and 20+ obstacles in Old Bethpage, New York for the sixth consecutive year. Tough Mudder is a great team building event, where participants help each other carry objects and climb over barriers, open to our staff members of all ages.

Marcum Workplace Challenge Tuesday, July 31
The Marcum Workplace Challenge is a 3.5-mile run-walk for charity and Long Island’s largest office picnic, held at Jones Beach State Park. To date, the Workplace Challenge has raised over $800,000 for their charity beneficiaries. Members of the Roux team take part in the race, and then make time to unwind on the beach.

Paralegal (Arlington, Virginia)

Position Overview
This position will support our Economics Modeling Practice and requires a meticulous, organized, and energetic Paralegal with experience in litigation matters, legal invoices, and document review to provide support to our team in our Arlington, Virginia office.

Candidate Qualifications/Certifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience working on litigation matters.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail required.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite is required. Knowledge of Access preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using legal database and research software, including Westlaw.

Position Requirements

  • Organizing and maintaining a case information sharing process.
  • Researching emerging litigation trends for business development purposes.
  • Auditing legal invoices.
  • Assessing legal allegations based on a review of underlying documentation.
  • Performing case-specific research and preparing related reports.

CSR Spotlight: NAIOP NJ Community Action Volunteer Day

On July 20, 2018, Roux’s Bryanna Danyluk of our Somerset, New Jersey office volunteered at NAIOP New Jersey Community Action Day at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside.

Over 120 additional NAIOP members and colleagues volunteered to sort incoming donations, repack food and household items, and distribute the goods to those in need across eighteen different New Jersey counties. Bryanna shared that 504 boxes were packed just during the morning shift! The day was split into morning and afternoon shifts.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey fights hunger and poverty by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions. They engage, educate, and empower all sectors of society in the battle against hunger, reminding us that hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation. High Line Park

Environmental Engineering Services; Manhattan, New York 

The High Line is a former elevated railroad structure reclaimed as a public space. Friends of the High Line—a community-based non-profit group formed in 1999 when the historic structure was under threat of demolition works—partnered with the City of New York to preserve and maintain the structure as an elevated public park. The Park spans 23 city blocks in the West Chelsea section of Manhattan, New York. Roux provided environmental engineering design and planning services as a subcontractor to the landscape architect for the Friends of the High Line.

Our specific services consisted of:

  • Site inspections;
  • Exposure Assessment of structural railings and future access stairways;
  • Rail bed soil sampling;
  • Health and safety planning; and
  • Preparation of soil handling and railing restoration specifications.
